The 2006 Meridian 459 Cockpit Motoryacht is an excellent example of the comforts that abound in Meridian cruisers.

Getting aboard is aided by boarding doors on each side of the raised aft deck, where you will find full-width seating under the soft top along with a refreshment center. Wide steps from the aft deck make it a quick trip to the helm. The 459’s helm is one of the best. Every instrument and item of navigation gear is highly visible and all controls and switches are within easy reach. The guest accommodations on the bridge are first-class as well, with a helmsman seat to port, refreshment center and L-shaped setting aft.

She runs at a steady 22 knots at open throttle. Engines are Cummins diesel power. Handling is predictable and stately, surprising for a 47-foot, 30,700 pound motor yacht. Meridian’s Docking On Command (DOC) system comprises of a stern thruster and a bow thruster — making sliding into a slot easy. Some say down right cheating.

The salon in the 459 is spacious with twin couches in stain-resistant Mirage leather. The port side incorporates
Flexsteel recliners, which offers a great view of the TV/DVD/DTV center. High-gloss cherry accents and padded liners create an outstanding warm interior in the main salon. The double row of windows sets the design apart; whether seated or standing, you always get a great view.
The galley is impressive with its Corian counters, hidden range and sink, and refrigerator that can hold a week’s
worth of provisions. After preparing a meal, you can dine in style on the salon’s starboard sofa and convertible table.
The forward stateroom will make any guest happy, with an island queen berth, adequate storage, entertainment center
and private access to the day head.
The real luxury is reserved for the master aft cabin, where glowing cherry is utilized for cabinetry and trim surrounding the queen island berth. Along the port side is an open vanity and sink flanked by a private shower and separate head. The feature that drew us to the boat was the sliding glass doors out to the rear cockpit. The 459 is based on the 408 Meridian with the addition of this cockpit. Not only is it a great place to relax, it also provides a fishing platform and greatly improves access to the swim platform in low floating dock situations.
The 459 cruiser delivers both comfort and style.
