Well this is my first trip on the boat and I protest. It’s noisy and the monsters in the belly vibrate so much, I just hid in the front cabin bed. Later the boat stopped making noise so I explored top side, mid side and main salon. There were no mice and it was too far to jump to the dock. This sucks! On the positive side, I did find the middle of the queen bed in the master aft cabin very nice. The large sliding door allowed me to watch all the happenings while not being disturbed. I have my own bathroom and I get to eat in the galley with everyone else so I might get use to it. I’ll keep you posted.
Paraiso next great adventure the plan 2015
Currently, Paraiso flips between of summer home of Boone’s Landing (Chris) at Big Bone Creek, KY and wintering over at Pier 99 in Warsaw, Ky. Both marinas are AGLCA (America’s Great Loop Cruisers’ Association ) friendly, just ask us for help. Officially, Paraiso is on the Great Loop Cruise with an extended side trip up the Ohio River. November 2015 Paraiso will start chasing the weather to the south.
We are refitting the boat this year with several new items in preparation of a return trip to Florida with a second crack at the gulf crossing, and beyond. We replaced all the salt corroded LED lights, new silverware (wow some things you just can’t cheap out on), replaced pike poll broken by the captain, upgrades to chart plotter (most exciting), new dingy with outboard motor, fishing knife replacer, new long range deck radios (cheap) with frequency programmable feature (marine, weather, CB, family, business, police ,fire,), Aft deck chairs, Fix ice-maker, install digital antenna,
Most of all install the new AGLCA flag for the voyage.
OH and the plan? push off as soon as we can and return as late as possible.
First lock on the Kentucky R.
Paraiso is in lock 2 . We are starting the filling process with Janis on the front line. Notice the technique for the tie off. Long lines supplied by the lock master are tied to the away side of the boat so it is held tight against the wall. Have good fenders out! These locks require two people to hold the boat in place. It takes 30 to 40 minutes to clear the lock going up.
Kentucky River Float Plan
Paraiso has started a float plan for the Frankfort trip. We are planning on four buddy boats to make the first cruise with us from Pier 99 on the Ohio River Cincinnati pool to Frankfort Boat Club on Kentucky River. Contact for FBC is Rodney, 502 330 3378 their website is www.frankfortboatclub.com and the Kentucky River Authority’s website is www.kra.ky.gov The head of the River Authority is Jerry Graves, office 502 564 2866, cell- 502 603 5618.

We will depart June 5 at 8:00 AM South from Pier 99 near the Markland Dam, Ohio River MM 528. We expect to be at the first 10 AM opening at KY R. lock #1. Then motor up the Kentucky River 60+ miles to the capitol of Kentucky, Frankfort! We will blog on our goparaiso.com and will make a side trip summary for the loopers . In any new adventure, information is a mix of rumors and experts with no or bad details and nay saiers. We hope with our band of newbees and long time boaters to log a great story. As many loopers say…. and the adventure begins!
GoParaiso Travels to Frankfort, Ky via Kentucky River
For the first time in over 20 years the 4 Kentucky River locks will be open for the 63 mile travel from the Ohio River to Frankfort. Few people have had the opportunity to make this trip. The passage will be a mixture of Tom-Bigbee meets Erie canal. Paraiso will take a scouting excursion with several boats on June 5. We will leave Pier 99 in the Markland pool MM530 on 6/4. If interested send me an email. The locals are very eager to make this new route a success and is a labor of love between local gov, volunteers, and small businesses. We will gather local phone #, web contacts, and the whos-who if anyone is interested in an extended side trip. In addition to the lock openings below, they can try to arrange a ” volunteer runner” to open the locks during the week. the following link gets you started, http://finance.ky.gov/offices/kra/Pages/default.aspx

Hello boating world!
welcome to our travel blog for Paraiso. We will be transitioning our former blog post site to the new format. This may take a little time and be awkward at fist . But our goal is to have a better functioning page for this fall’s travel leg.
